Experience
I've been teaching math and physics for 10+ years. I have a long track record of helping students pass their math and physics classes. I work with you (or your child) on honing math skills and conceptual visualization in equal parts. In the process, I can help you come to terms with why math and physics courses are required by programs in the first place. These two things are not independent: it is actually easier to succeed in a course when you know what you are supposed to be getting out of it. I can help you with exactly that. About me: I received my PhD in 2012. I enthusiastically jumped into a job as a college professor, and in 2015, I quit. In those three years, I routinely witnessed admins making decisions that were not in the best interests of the students' educations, so I left. For now, I am working as a freelance writer/consultant as I decide how to direct my passion for improving STEM education and helping students interested in STEM pursue fruitful careers. Because students are at the center of my passion for STEM education, I am continuing to offer online tutoring and advising services. I don't care what course level you are at, from college algebra to quantum mechanics, I would like to help you. My rate is usually $20/hour, which I hope is significantly lower than the tutors in your area. I use web-based tools such as MathIM.com and Google Docs to ensure that an online tutoring session is as productive as an in-person session. I have secure payment options to protect you (and me, for that matter) that I can tell you about after you contact me. Of course, if you are in the northern Utah or SE Idaho regions, I am happy to meet in person for the same price.

Hobbies
I would like to offer my services also to anyone who is not currently enrolled in college courses, but is nonetheless interested in self-teaching college courses using MIT's Open Courseware. I have worked previously as a tutor/course administrator/grader/cheerleader for self-learners using MIT's excellent content offerings, and it was a really cool experience. If you intend to complete a full-semester course, I charge an average of $400 per course; however, it varies a little depending on the course subject. With that, I provide unlimited tutoring while you are completing the course, as well as personalized discussion of each course assignment. This is a great opportunity to learn something new, as taught by the brightest minds in the world, for a fraction of the price.
